Our founder and Chief instructor Ray Sarkine began his training at 5 years old.  He has dedicated his life to Martial Arts.

As a youngster Ray was fascinated with Bruce Lee and learning Kung Fu. Ray’s Father encouraged his son's interest and when Kung Fu was no longer an option he enrolled his son in Karate.  Martial Arts was a family affair.  In addition to his father's interest and support, Ray’s uncle was also a Black Belt.  Ray earned his Black Belt in Kyokushin Karate a system famous for hard-core training and bare knuckle full-contact fighting. But this was just the beginning.

While still young Ray’s Father brought him to the Police Athletic League where he practiced Boxing and learned Judo. Later Ray discovered Muay Thai from a family friend whom had recently returned from the military, stationed in Bangkok Thailand.  At the time most Americans had not heard of Muay Thai and some thought it was a food dish. Having been Boxing for years and used to bare shin striking from Kyokushin, Ray fell in love with Thai Boxing and found it fit his skills perfectly.

Always the perpetual student Ray studied further in Muay Thai and Kyokushin and also learned Aikido, Judo, Jujitsu, Greco-Roman Wrestling and Kobudo (weapons).

In 1984 Ray followed his father into Law enforcement work and at night continued to train, opening his first school. A humble beginning his first school was simply empty space in the local YMCA, meeting only two nights a week. Soon his student count grew too large for the YMCA and Ray moved to accommodate the growth and expand his schedule of classes.  He's been in continual operation ever since.

Ray has worked in Law Enforcement, Executive Protection and Security Training. He has trained members of our Nation’s elite Special Forces and Law Enforcement agencies. Although working in these fields, teaching Martial Arts has been his passion and primary occupation since 1985.

Ray competed in Bare Knuckle fighting, American Kickboxing, International Rules Kickboxing and Muay Thai and retired undefeated. He has trained numerous Muay Thai Kickboxing Champions, both Male and Female. His students have won some of the most prestigious tournaments in the world such as the IKF, WKA, and the TBA. Ray has also trained multiple Golden Gloves Boxing Champions and Silver Gloves Champions.

Ray Serves as the Chief Instructor of our Schools and is the President of the World Muay Thai League.  He has taught the very first accredited college course in Muay Thai at a top 10 university. His schools are considered by many to be the oldest, largest and most successful in the United States and have been featured on numerous TV programs, newspaper articles and magazine features.
